A 'Must Have' Map for Outdoor Enthusiasts; Arizona Hunt Unit 7 East Map
Our Arizona Hunt Unit 7 East Map is a 'must have' for all Arizona outdoor buffs. This hunt unit offers any visitor the “High Country” ponderosa pine forest with vast meadows, to the rolling hills of the pinyon juniper belts that meander to the grasslands.
This highly sought-after unit lies almost entirely within the Coconino National Forest, however, there are small pockets of private and State lands as well. This unit is famous for its San Francisco’s trophy elk. Other big game species includes mule deer, pronghorn antelope, black bear, mountain lion, and turkey. There are also great opportunities for small game such as bobcat, coyote, fox, cottontail rabbit, squirrel and more.
For the hiker there are numerous trails through out the region including part of the Arizona Trail.
Arizona's Hunt Unit 7 East offers winter recreation at the Arizona Snow Bowl for down hill skiing where Arizona’s highest elevation lies, Humphrey’s Peak at 12,637 ft. Also offers areas for snowmobiling as well.
The Grand Canyon State has been divided into Hunt Units otherwise known as Game Management Units (GMU). Each of these units can contain state, federal, military and private land, and the boundaries serve in assisting the Arizona Game and Fish Department and the Arizona Game and Fish Commission in managing wildlife within its boundaries. And although these references seem specific to wildlife and hunting, each unit's boundaries can be helpful to any outdoor enthusiast whether you are hiking, biking, off-roading, boating or camping.
The Arizona Hunting Regulations are published regularly by the Arizona Game and Fish Department. These publications will help you identify what and where you want to hunt, what you will need, and how to to go about applying for a hunting license. The Arizona Hunting Regulations has excellent information on draws, outdoor skills, hunter education, big and small game seasons and tips for things you should know before you venture out on your hunting trip.
Remember that public lands are subject to leasing and other changes. It is advised to obtain local and forestry information from a the National Forest Service office or other public land agency. Contact the appropriate land management agency for the most current information.
